## Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) | Homoeopathic Consultants, Karachi
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the lining of the joints (synovium). This leads to persistent inflammation, pain, swelling, and stiffness (often worse in the morning), with reduced range of motion. Over time, RA may also affect surrounding tissues such as tendons and ligaments, and in some patients it can involve other organs including the skin, blood vessels, heart, and lungs.
RA typically follows a long-term course with flare-ups (active disease) and remissions (periods of minimal or no symptoms). If inflammation remains uncontrolled, it can progressively damage joints and contribute to deformity and functional disability.
Causes and risk factors:
- Genetic tendency: inherited susceptibility is common.
- Triggers: infections and environmental factors may initiate an autoimmune response in predisposed individuals.
- Immune-driven inflammation: ongoing inflammation can gradually harm cartilage and bone.
- Stress: may contribute and can trigger flares in some patients.
- RA is more common in women (about three times) and can begin at any age, with peak onset between 40 and 60 years.
At Homoeopathic Consultants, Karachi, Dr Arham provides individualized homoeopathic care aimed at reducing inflammation, controlling pain and stiffness, improving mobility, and supporting long-term joint function. Many of our patients come to us after being advised to consider knee replacement; after treatment at our clinic, they report significant improvement in pain, walking comfort, and day-to-day joint function, and many have been able to delay or avoid surgery.
Note: established cartilage loss is generally difficult to reverse completely; our goal is to control inflammation, support function, and help slow further damage.
At our clinic, we have documented cartilage improvement in a significant number of patients.”

The following are the common tests done to diagnose RA:
Rheumatoid arthritis is an auto-immune, constitutional disease where the inner, immunological system, which is governed by multiple factors such as genetic, environmental, stress, etc., is at fault. That means that the medicine selected for such a disease needs to be deep-acting and based on the individual patient’s broader understanding. Homeopathic medicines are not selected based on just the name of the disease or some symptoms but based on the internal disease state.
